Yoga for back pain
It is recommended that people with back pain keep physically active, learn to improve posture, and address emotional issues and stress factors.
Research indicates that back pain responds best to an approach that combines all these elements and that yoga can do this.
Aim of this Course
This is an evidence-based, gentle yoga course designed to enable those with low back pain to learn techniques to improve their condition over time.
Yoga For Healthy Lower Backs is a safe and effective programme which will give you life-long tools to help you manage the health of your back while improving the peace of your mind.
The largest ever yoga research trial (2006-2011) was run by The University of York’s Department of Health Sciences and funded by Arthritis Research UK. The research concluded that “After attending a 12-week course, participants had an average of 3.8 days off work, compared to the control group average of 12.3 days, i.e. a 70% decrease, suggesting they had learnt to lessen the frequency, duration and intensity of bad back pain episodes. Participants reported a 63% improvement in their ability to “control and cope with their back pain on their own.”
This unique ‘best practice’ yoga course is designed by experts. It is extremely gentle in its approach and puts you in charge of improving your health and well-being. It is taught in small groups to allow for individual attention.
I will be running the 12 week course (the same course as run during the research trial). Details below.

Teaching Fee of £132 for the 12-week course
This fee works out as: £11 per class (£66 for the first 6 weeks and £66 for the second 6 weeks).
£33 - due now or 3 weeks before course begins to reserve your place
£33 – payable at Class 1 = Teaching Fees
£66 – payable at Class 7 = Teaching Fees
